About
Jaap Evert Abrahamse studied architectural history at the University of Groningen. He received a cum laude doctorate from the University of Amsterdam in 2010 with his PhD thesis Metropolis in the Making. A Planning History of Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden Age. Since 2007 he has been researching urban design history at the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE), working on a variety of research projects focusing on the spatial dynamics of cities, landscapes, and infrastructure. Since 2023 he has been endowed professor of Cities, landscapes, and heritage at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
